September is, by far, my favorite month of the year. Kids are back in school after a great summer. I can get back to a normal schedule 😊. Football is upon us; I enjoy the high school and UW-W games. Getting out into the woods in hopes for a turkey or deer will also bring some serious joy.
Seems like forever since I have written here for Discerning Whitewater. This is not due to a shortage of topics. After the spring election a break was needed. I am fortunate that I have a job I love, and that keeps me very busy. A top priority for me is always my kids as well. I took on some coaching over the summer, as well as going back to school which took up most of my remaining time. Whatever time was left was spent getting my tired, old body back into shape, which is very much a work in progress. At the half century mark, after gaining five pounds a year for ten plus years, the weight does not come off so easily. It requires more perseverance; and this is a good thing in my humble opinion.
No shortage of topics, eh? Well… what seems to be going around Whitewater lately?
- I have steered clear of the pool debacle. My thought on the pool is that this should be as easy of a topic to work out as Whitewater is going to see. Unfortunately, it appears that our nothing can be easy.
- The lakes…. The lakes…. The lakes…. I simply continue to see no plan by the city for the lakes. I have been paying attention, and … it all starts with an objective? And the city does not even know what it wants after three years of this mess. If the pool was so tough to resolve, God help us for the lakes.
- Whitewater’s Community Development Authority recently approved some big bucks for single-family housing. What is interesting to me…. The income requirements for the money (just under $100k, last I heard) are less than the bank’s requirements to build a new home. I am interested to see how this works and I plan on tracking this.I guess it is possible I am missing something, but I have asked and the responses have not provided clarity.
- Whitewater Grocery is attempting to move ahead aggressively with Aldi’s coming into town. I cannot help but ask how much money Whitewater Grocery is going to ask from taxpayers? My estimate is two million dollars. I do not see how they can become operational without that much money. My understanding is that the CDA can give the Grocery Co. the funds without the approval of the city council. Sometimes it is not what you know, it is who you know.
- The Library is going to be asking for a couple million dollars as well. Why? Because Whitewater taxpayers are made of money apparently.
One last thought…. Picture of the Student Services office back in June:

I am curious as to whether or not parents are aware that the Student Services is promoting non-traditional (and potentially dangerous) gender and sexuality ideology.
I cannot help but ask the question, “What precautions are made by the schools for parents that don’t want their kids groomed?”
Anyways….
Happy First Day of School, parents! God Bless!

James :6-8a
6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit therefore to God. But [a]resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God and He will come close to you.
